Year 5

In the Autumn Term we learn about ‘The Tudors’, where our focus is History and we research Henry VIII and his six wives, as well as the reign of those after him. We are lucky enough to visit his home at Hampton Court Palace for the day too. We look at the decisions Tudor leaders made (treason included!) and discuss what we would have done differently. In Science, we look at the life cycles of mammals, amphibians and plants. 

In the Spring Term, we begin our very exciting Space topic. We focus on Geography throughout learning about (and make) the planets, explore time zones and climates. Some of our Science lessons are spent discovering Space, beginning with gravity and then progressing to other forces. The children will have the opportunity to participate in many different experiments. 

In the Summer Term, our topic is another Geography based subject – this time a little closer to home. We explore Brighton and Hove, with an exciting trip to Brighton Pavilion and the i360! We look at our local environments, discover the history of our wonderful city and compare this to what we see today. 

We finish off our year with an exciting two night residential trip to Parkwood. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to work on their team building skills, spend time orienteering in the grounds, make their own pizzas and most importantly have lots of fun! 

Please note that PE is on a Wednesday afternoon and all children need their PE kits!
